The 2nd BCB open rehearsal was just as popular and successful as the first one. Once again the band was more than 60 players strong with 50% of that number being non members of BCB. A lot of these were attending a BCB rehearsal for the first time in many years.
Bandmaster Gavin Lamplough chose a good mix of repertoire for the evening, using more modern pieces “Moses Get Down”, “Psalm of Thanks” and “Montclair Citadel” alongside classics “For Our Transgressions” and “Call of the Righteous”. Gavin's explanation of the message behind the piece 'For Our Transgressions' was very informative and challenging, especially as it tells the story of a person that is struggling with his faith or maybe someone that has lost his faith completely. A lot of people there could most probably relate to this piece and its message very closely. Major Steve White also shared a few thoughts from God's word.
The night finished with a chance to chat to each other over a cup of tea and a biscuit. Another great night of music making in the Lord's name was enjoyed by all.
The following Sunday evening saw a number of our guests return to Birmingham Citadel for the Sunday evening service when they played with the band.
