John Sharman soldiers at Birmingham Citadel with his wife Gaynor, son Mark and daughter Ruth.  Having retired from teaching some years ago, John still works as an instrumental music  teacher in three schools in Staffordshire.  

 

John first arrived at Birmingham Citadel in 1979, and returned to the corps with his family in 2007 after spending a number of years living in Cornwall.

Family: Wife (Gaynor), Daughter (Ruth) , Sons (Paul and Mark).

Hobbies: Football (Rotherham United....up the Millers!), Travelling.

Favourite Food: Root Beer Float.

Favourite Film: Scrooge the Musical

Favourite Band Piece: Symphony of Thanksgiving

Keith Watts is Birmingham born and bred.  Passing through the Young People’s sections he was commissioned a Senior Bandsman in 1961.

 

For the first 2 years in Birmingham Citadel band he sat next to his Father, Alfred, playing Euphonium before moving onto Bass Trombone for 7 years.  He returned to Euphonium in 1970 and spent many years as Principal Euphonium featuring as soloist on countless occasions.

 

Although originally qualifying in engineering, following a spell at Birmingham Conservatoire Keith spent 35 years teaching brass musicians.  For 10 years, prior to his retirement in 2005, Keith was Head of the Music Service in Sandwell.

Family: Wife (Glenis), Sons (Christopher and Adrian)

Current Employment: Retired

Hobbies:Rugby-since my son moved to New Zealand I’m torn between England and All Blacks

Favourite Food: Chinese.....quite partial to a visit to Wing Wah!

Favourite Film: The Sound of Music...the last time I sat on the back row with Glenis!

Favourite Band Piece: Constant Trust and Resurgam
